What are they?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You\u2019ve done the Open Days, shortlisted the uni\u2019s, submitted the UCAS applications and had that magical email or letter with your offer\u2026<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 100%; height: 0; padding-bottom: 63%; position: relative;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"giphy-embed\" style=\"position: absolute;\" src=\"https:\/\/giphy.com\/embed\/L3UKTy1BxE5Hi\" width=\"100%\" height=\"100%\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s next?<\/strong> Well the chances are you\u2019ll be invited by the university to an Applicant Day. These days are private subject-specific small events, that will give you a greater insight into your course and help you make your final decision about which course and uni you\u2019ll accept.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>So, it\u2019s just like an Open Day?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Not really, an open day is where the university throws open its doors to anyone looking at any course.<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/host-students.com\/applicant-days-2023\/\">Applicant Day<\/a> is a lot more tailored to you. You\u2019ll get to know your course a lot more and gain more of an idea of what to expect from living and studying at the university. And now you\u2019ve received an offer your thought process will be completely different, and you\u2019ll have many more questions.<\/p>\n<p>The Applicant Day gives you the opportunity to again visit the university campus and learn more about your chosen degree from those who know about it best. Most applicant days will consist of a tour, you\u2019ll see the facilities and spaces that your chosen course takes place in. You\u2019ll meet your potential lecturers and a few current students who will answer any questions you may have and give you a bit more of an insight into studying at that university.<\/p>\n<p>Some Applicant Days will include a taster lecture. \u00a0While others will give you an overview about finance and funding, support services, and sports and societies that the university offers.<\/p>\n<p>Check out this video from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcu.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham City University<\/a> (It&#8217;s under 10 mins walk from <a href=\"https:\/\/host-students.com\/locations\/birmingham\/londonderry-house\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Londonderry House<\/a>) about attending an applicant day&#8230;<\/p>\n<style>.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }<\/style>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eBv74A3sMgk\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Who can come with me?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>That\u2019ll depend on the individual university and the programme for the day, but in most cases, you\u2019ll be encouraged to bring your parents along. It\u2019ll give them the peace of mind; get the answers they need and also help make the decision slightly easier for you.<\/p>\n<p>For certain parts of the day, such as taster lectures or subject talks, etc. they probably won\u2019t be with you. In many universities, they\u2019ll head off to a Q&amp;A session with university students and academics that are tailored specifically for them.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong>Will Host be open for viewings?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-12692\" src=\"https:\/\/host-students.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/Accommodation-Tour-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Where we have a relationship with the university, we\u2019ll usually throw open our doors. You can come along and have a guided tour through the university.<\/p>\n<p>In most cases our <a href=\"https:\/\/host-students.com\/locations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">locations<\/a> will hold their own an open day where our team will be on hand to show you around and answer any questions you may have.<\/p>\n<p>But even if we\u2019re not.
