Heading to De Montfort University (DMU) or the University of Leicester? This vibrant city is full of so many wonderful places, including our best kept secret <\/span>41 Castle Street<\/span><\/a>. A place with so many amazing features is definitely good for the soul.<\/span><\/p>\n

Student Life<\/h3>\n

New students to the city have noted how friendly the people are and how much green space there is, making them feel at home much quicker. The city is culturally diverse which means you get the opportunity to meet students from all sorts of fun and exciting places.<\/span><\/p>\n

There\u2019s plenty to do to help unwind after your lectures, such as going for a walk along the river. If you fancy venturing further out, then both Victoria and Abbey Park are a 20-minute bus ride from <\/span>41 Castle Street.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

The nightlife brings a lively atmosphere to the city, with there being loads of different bars and clubs to choose from. The university\u2019s also have their own club nights which are popular with first years. Even the clubs in the city have their own student nights, with varied music so you can always find something you\u2019ll love.<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Leicester famous for<\/h2>\n

Fancy some Red Leicester or Stilton? Well Leicestershire is one the UK\u2019s biggest dairy counties so if you\u2019re a cheese lover you could be in the perfect place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Or maybe you prefer History. The royal remains of King Richard III were recently excavated from Leicester Council car park, 500 years after his death!<\/span><\/p>\n

Sport fan then? The city\u2019s rugby team are officially England\u2019s most successful rugby club. Find out more about the Leicester Tigers on their <\/span>website<\/span><\/a>. If not rugby, then surely football. Leicester City Football Club are premier league winners and have some of the greatest fans in football.<\/span><\/p>\n

Architecture<\/h3>\n

If you\u2019ve been lucky enough to visit before you study in Leicester, then you\u2019ll already be aware of the amazing architecture that the city boasts. It\u2019s as if you\u2019ve been transported back in time with some of the 20th<\/sup> century style.<\/span><\/p>\n

Affordable<\/h3>\n

Although the city is rich in history, it is one of the most economical places to live in Britain. HSBC have previously stated that the university is one of the most affordable places to live for first- and second-year students. If you\u2019re low on cash there\u2019s always something to do for free, such as going to the New Walk Museum, which even has its own Picasso room!<\/span><\/p>\n

Where can I study?<\/h2>\n

De Montfort University<\/h3>\n

DMU is home to over 17,000 fulltime students. There are four faculties of Art, Design and Humanities, Business and Law, Health and Life Sciences, and Technology.<\/span><\/p>\n

The university has a focus on career-relevant skills, with numerous courses being endorsed by professional bodies. Teaching standards are aligned with current industry practices and the university has links with the BBC, NHS, HP and Deloitte. This makes the university a great choice for students looking to undertake a work placement. <\/span><\/p>\n

University of Leicester<\/h3>\n

The other university available in the area is the University of Leicester, which has around 15,000 students and offers over 350 programs in a variety of fields. \u00a0The facilities available to students are top class. The university is known for discovering King Richard III, as well as inventing genetic fingerprinting. Their ground-breaking research attracts world-class academics.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not surprising to hear that the university has been awarded the Queen\u2019s Anniversary Prize for Higher and Further Education on three occasions. The highest form of national recognition open to a UK academic institution.<\/p>\n
