What is an applicant day?<\/h3>\n

Applicant days<\/a> are an essential step in your university journey. They are subject specific days which give you the opportunity to learn more about your chosen university and course.<\/p>\n

Are applicant days the same as open days?<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

There is a difference. Open days are where the university opens its doors to anyone looking at any course.<\/p>\n

An Applicant Day is a lot more tailored to you. You\u2019ll get to know your course a lot more and gain more of an idea of what to expect from living and studying at the university. And now you\u2019ve received an offer your thought process will be completely different, and you\u2019ll have many more questions.<\/p>\n

The Applicant Day gives you the opportunity to again visit the university campus and learn more about your chosen degree from those who know about it best. Most applicant days will consist of a tour, you\u2019ll see the facilities and spaces that your chosen course takes place in. You\u2019ll meet your potential lecturers and a few current students who will answer any questions you may have and give you a bit more of an insight into studying at that university.<\/p>\n

Some Applicant Days will include a taster lecture. \u00a0While others will give you an overview about finance and funding, support services, and sports and societies that the university offers.<\/p>\n

Do I have to go alone?<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

That\u2019ll depend on the individual university and the programme for the day, but in most cases, you\u2019ll be encouraged to bring your parents along. It\u2019ll give them the peace of mind; get the answers they need and also help make the decision slightly easier for you.
\nFor certain parts of the day, such as taster lectures or subject talks, etc. they probably won\u2019t be with you. In many universities, they\u2019ll head off to a Q&A session with university students and academics that are tailored specifically for them.<\/p>\n

Are applicant days worth going to?<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Yes! There are many reasons why applicant days are important to attend if you can arrange to.<\/p>\n

  1. Experience your course.<\/li>\n
  2. Get all those questions answered.<\/li>\n
  3. View the university facilities.<\/li>\n
  4. Meet future friends.<\/li>\n
  5. Explore the Campus.<\/li>\n
  6. Decide where you\u2019d like to live \u2013 obviously with our award-winning student accommodation!<\/li>\n
  7. Chat to current students about studying at the university.<\/li>\n
  8. Check out the sports facilities.<\/li>\n
  9. Find out about student finance, university funding and any scholarships.<\/li>\n
  10. Explore the city.<\/li>\n
  11. Locate the student\u2019s union bar.<\/li>\n
  12. And finally give mum and dad that peace of mind and stop their nagging.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
